| Title: Does Your Meter Work? This group of travel essays chronicle a Canadian traveler’s zany tours of Southeast Asia. This is much more than a travelogue; it’s a commentary on the life of a freelance writer dealing with rejection slips; the how-tos and accommodations of a Westerner teaching English in communist Vietnam, and the foibles of taxi drivers trying to scam their customers. The author’s writing is very visual and tongue-in-cheek humorous. This is a worthwhile read for those contemplating either the writing life or becoming a vagabond. We rated it three hearts.
